Are you looking to gain work experience and build your future? Get paid to learn while doing work that matters at the Oro Loma Sanitary District!
Our interns work with experienced staff who help keep our community clean and healthy. They learn by doing real work. They also gain skills that can prepare them for future jobs. Join our team as a wastewater or engineering intern.
Build a career while protecting the environment.
Are you someone who enjoys working with your hands? Are you good at solving problems? Would you like a job that helps protect the environment?
Our Operator-in-Training (OIT) program gives you the chance to learn how wastewater is treated. Interns will work alongside experienced operators and gain hands-on experience with the equipment and processes at our treatment plant. This is a valuable opportunity to support the systems that treat wastewater before it is returned to the San Francisco Bay.
OIT Program at a Glance:
- Pay: $30/hourly
- Employment Type: Temporary, at-will
- Training Hours: Earn qualifying work hours toward the 1,800 hours needed for wastewater operation certification. Visit the State of California's webpage to learn more about certification requirements.
Who Can Apply?
You may be a good fit if you enjoy hands-on work and are willing to learn. We recommend that applicants have basic computer skills and a working knowledge of algebra. We also recommend a high school diploma or GED. This career path does not require a college degree.
