Trash, Recycle, and Organics Services
Important Update
Oro Loma has made changes to how solid waste services are billed. Starting July 1, 2024, WM will handle all billing of their services. Those that paid for recycling and organics collection services on their property taxes will now be billed for these services by WM. This change means that residents living in L1 and L3 areas of the District will no longer pay the “Monthly Recycle” charge for recycle and organics collection services, as well as the District’s SB 1383 fee, on their property taxes. The “monthly recycle” charge appeared on the tax bill– as AB 939 Recycling.
This change is intended to make billing clearer and more consistent for everyone. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this update, please do not hesitate to contact us.

This includes recycle and organics collection services, in an effort to reduce the amount of material taken to landfills, in accordance with the California Integrated Waste Management Act of 1898 and Alameda County Measure D.

Residential Per Unit Fee (Recycle & Organics Collection Services +District SB 1383 Fee)
Charges effective September 1, 2024.
The “Residential Per Unit Fee” for recycling and organics collection services, plus the “District’s SB 1383 Fee” for residential properties with four units or fewer $7.48 per unit per month. For residential properties (multi-family) with five units or more collectively billed, the “Residential Per Unit Fee” is $7.18 per unit per month. The “Residential Per Unit Fee” appears on the WM invoice as “Monthly Recycle.” See the complete ordinance for additional information.
Residential Trash Cart Service

The cost for prepaid “tag-it” service consisting of a designated label to be affixed to a customer-provided 35-gallon bag shall be $6.43 per label.
Each residential customer account receiving trash service from the District’s designated contractor shall be entitled to two “on-call” bulky collections per calendar year free of charge, pursuant to eligibility requirements and guidelines approved by the District. Each “on-call” bulky collection could include up to three large appliances, up to four passenger vehicle tires without rims, yard trimmings and wood not exceeding 4 feet in length and 6 inches in diameter, and up to 2 cubic yards of trash and small appliances placed in trash bags or disposable containers.
