Here’s a quick guide to help you schedule and prepare for a bulky collection.

Schedule a Bulky Pickup

Call 510-613-8710 M-F, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. to schedule a bulky waste pickup.

Please remember to call at least two weeks in advance to schedule your pickup and call before December 10 to ensure the bulky waste will be collected during the calendar year. 

Step 2

How to Prepare

  • Have items ready for pick-up by 5:30 a.m., but please do not set them out the night before,
    as other people may add to the pile and you may incur charges
  • Place pickup items in the street, next to the curb
  • Do not block the sidewalk
  • Make sure that large or bulky items do not topple or roll into the street
  • Cover an area no larger than two regular sidewalk squares
  • Customers will be charged for pickup of items that exceed program limits
  • Before throwing out usable items, consider donating them to charity or holding a garage sale
  • Old magazines and newspapers can be recycled, as can corrugated cardboard and many types of plastic and metal containers.

An overview of what types of materials and furnishings are accepted, and how to schedule and prepare for your bulky waste pickup. Oro Loma Sanitary District customers are allowed two bulky waste pickups per year.

What You Can Include in Your Bulky Pickup

You may include items from ALL of the categories below in one pickup as long as:

  1. Items are within the stated limits for each category
  2. Items meet the preparation guidelines above,
  3. No single item weighs over 75 pounds, and
  4. Does not contain hazardous waste, rocks, dirt, concrete, or construction debris.

Large residential appliances

  • Up to three large appliances

Automobile tires

  • Up to four, passenger vehicles only, no rims

Household furniture and mattresses

  • Up to three large items

Yard trimmings and wood

  • Branches or wood must not exceed 4′ long or 6″ in diameter
  • Branches and limbs must be bundled
  • Clean, untreated, unpainted wood only
  • Please do NOT place the green waste in plastic bags
A fan, vacuum cleaner, microwave, toaster, black bag, and other small appliances.

Trash and small appliances

  • Trash must be in large bags or other disposable containers
  • Containers will not be returned
  • Up to 2 cubic yards, which is approximately 16 large trash bags or a stack 3ft. x 3ft. x 6ft.

What not to Include

No hazardous waste
